...Joy? No, not quite... This is an ode to many Beatles things, just because they deserve
to be mentioned. ;)
ODE TO...
The
early, formative years, when the Beatles played their way to success through Liverpool and Hamburg
The Hamburg
days, which are interesting enough to be given an own section (see The Beatles in Hamburg)...
The Miami beach
photos, taken during the Beatles first U.S. visit in February 1964. A beach, the Beatles in swimming trunks - what's there
to complain about?
The Beatles
in jeans... this can be seen, for example, in the film HELP!, when the band is in the Bahamas.
The Beatles
in suits... black suits, gray suits, all kinds of suits - they worked for them!
Their album
covers... from the first simple, smiling photo on Please Please Me, to the ground-breaking With the Beatles
and Sgt Pepper..., right until the famous crossing on the Abbey Road cover, the Beatles covers were innovative,
fresh and unforgettable.
The Lennon/McCartney
songwriting...
The Harrison
songwriting...
The Starkey
songwriting...
The Beatles
concerts... they may have been drowned out by screams, and us second or third generation fans may not have ever been able
to experience them live, but nevertheless, they were a great live band.
Their
promo videos... Did they invent MTV? Well, I'd venture to say so, but whatever the opinion may be, it would be hard to say
that the Beatles promo videos were anything but wonderful!
